Style: American Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.80%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
077XX is our double IPA focused on harmonizing the extremes inherent in the nature of an American double IPA for long-term drinkability. 07740 is the Dubviant staked by a third Simcoe exclusive dry-hop inspired by the places that get it in Long Branch. Simcoe parlays Dub’s mix of dank resins and tropical fruit aromas with those reminiscent of berries and mulch. Drink 07740 'cause nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thanks to cp45 for this 16 oz. extra. Never quite understood the Carton can art, but I’m probably outside the targeted age demographic.

The pour looks like warm unfinished wood…with bubbles on it. The smell is like a cheerful welcome mat for the nose: class citrus bitterness gently holding a touch of peppery earth. I like it.

Carton 007740 – yes. I clearly recall walking a longggg portage between Little Gabbro & Bruin Lake years ago, with a pack that weighed about 352 pounds, & all I could think about was a Weyerbacher Double Simcoe after several days in the wilderness. While this doesn’t rise to the level of DS, it plays the hops beautifully. Throwback citrus & sharp bitterness dominate, along with lower levels of sticky resin, pine, & just a hint of fruitiness. Searingly dry. A proper point of this would be welcome.

The can advertises an East Coast IPA – I have no idea what that is, but this is a charming resurrection of a bald-faced, simcoe- addled IPA. Excellent beer.

Long Branch 07740. Where my son was born, and when growing up, a boardwalk half way to Asbury Park, with games, rides, carnival, italian hogies. Congressman Frank Pallone's home town. 07740 is perfect with sausage and peppers and Italian food, they got it right. As good as all the odubs.
Proud to be the first reviewer of Simcoe 07740. This one is near the top of the dubvariants along with 07750 Nelson. Carton tripling in size soon, well-deserved. Get to know this brewer. It's the water (and in my home town).

Mineral notes due to the hard artesian well water they use. A must try and a great place to visit.
A) Hazed blonde body sports a pure white finger pillowy head, that ascends an inch above the tulip glass rim, and laces clouds and dots while it rings the glass.
S) Super fresh, juicy, citrus hops, tropical fruits, along with round orchard fruits of apple and grape, then more fruity malts, orange peels, and pine.
T) Taste follows the smell. Zests your palate with orange citrus hops, lemon, apple, white wine, fruit malts, and tropical fruits. More pine resin, more oils.
F) Long, lean, peppery, zingy finish. Chewy, creamy, medium bodied DIPA w moderate carbonation. Light bitterness, long finish, and pretty easy to drink. Cleansing, great with Italian boardwalk/carnival food... cleansing, long, and fresh.

O) Try 24 if you can get it. 07740 delivers every time I return to it.
