Right around the time we got our new tanks up and running, we got our friend Ron (from the Green Flash Steambock collaboration) to join the brewing team. These two excitements combined to inspire a celebratory rework of that project as a jubilant pale, booming with the orange aromatics of those hops in an opulent pale, rather than a dignified lager.

a) Quick honey body with single finger of energetic white head that lasts and laces.
s) Orange, funky grass, fall earth and floral hops.
t) All of the aroma plus honey, malt, grass, onion, oats, white cracker, Citra
f) Downs crisp more pale ale that IPA, with ample carbonation, the 6.5% ABV matches and the experience is close to a Dales. (my favorite/first/ enduring craft ale)

16oz can in an Imperial pint glass.
Poured a murky orange color. My aggressive pour yielded no head, only a modest white film. Lacing amounted to no more than a few spots. It's not pretty.
Orange aroma; peel, juice, and candied. Floral hops play peek-a-boo.
The orange is prominent to the point of artificial flavoring. It's sweet, not from malt or alcohol, just plain sugary. Maybe the honey malt for sweets? Wheat and oats are well hidden.
Medium body. Feel is syrupy. There's no hop bite.
There are better orange drinks, with or without alcohol, than this mess.

Reviewed two weeks after release. Poured from 16 oz. can into Carton teku glass. It pours a cloudy, honey-orange color with a half finger of foamy, bright white head and lacing that lasted through the pour. It's a nice bright appearance. There's lots of orange peel on the nose, along with earthy, funky grass and light floral hops. The taste follows the nose with lots of tangerine/orange peel up front, sweet honey malt, grass, onion, oats, wheat cracker, and a flavorful blend of Citra and Idaho 7 hops that provides a dose of bitterness without a strong bite. It's crisp but not too thin, with lively carbonation, and the 6.5% ABV gives it a little pop without overwhelming. I'm glad Carton is experimenting with its "Brewers Board" series.. I think it will improve all of the brewery's offerings. This is a really nice Pale Ale that is perfect for summer drinking. If the oats were a little more prevalent, then this would be top notch.
