Collaboration with Cape May Brewing
“We should brew something.”
“Agreed.”
“What are you feeling?"
“Inspire me; what’s the coolest thing you’ve put in your mouth recently?”
“Cilantro basil chutney.”
“So an India Inspired Pale Ale? That, I would like to work on.”
“Not everyone likes basil.”
“True.”
“Less people like cilantro.”
“Seems that should make it more fun.”
“Game on.”

Canned on 6/14/2018 and poured into Carton IPA glass. It pours a hazy, tangerine yellow color with a half finger of foamy, bright-white head and lacing that dissipated slowly. There's lots of pineapple and tangerine on the nose along with sweet lactose, soft floral hops, and pine and spice notes. It's a fragrant pour. The taste opens with sweet pineapple, tangerine, and lemon. At mid-sip I'm tasting the blend of Citra and Belma hops, which add moderate bitterness but without a strong bite. At the end, particularly as the glass warms, I'm tasting lactose and oats which add a touch of sweetness at the finish and counters the basil. This ale features a pleasant degree of carbonation and it drinks below the 8% ABV. In fact, you have to watch yourself because it's super drinkable particularly on a hot day. Overall, this is a really fun beer from two creative and adventuresome brewers. It's an ideal Down the Shore beer!

Oat-Lactate Imperial Pale Ale with Pineapple Chutney. New at Carton. Please to be 1st review.
A) Like pineable puree, solids dominate a soft yellow cloudy body, with little head or lace.
S) Fresh pineapples toppled into sweet, maple oat meal, with Notes of Craker and Hops.
T) Follows Nose with all the pineapple to the core. Compare with Pineapple Sculpin. Fresher here so this may be the winner. This much fruit drowns the beer basics tho.
F) Balanced, but definitely on the juice, puree side of spectrum, finishes clean and balanced.
O) Carton excels at adding fruit flesh to beers possibly because I live 400 meters away so it’s fresh.
