With Sam 1, Sam answers the age old question of how to capture the jubilance of a brunch that runs from mimosa, through punches, to daiquiris in a less-punishing beer manner? Orange & strawberry touches on a malty sweetness with yeast esters to marry the Mandarina Bavaria and Citra hops, keeping this heady, vinous, garnet beauty in the tasty beer world.

Pours a fairly dark amber, minimal head. Great resinous hoppy aroma. Flavor is quite malty, caramel, hops are more bitter than citrusy, west coast ipa for shure. Very nice.

Served on cask in a dimpled mug at the brewery. Its brown color resembles iced tea and it has a thin, ecru-colored head and lacing. On the nose there is strawberry, vanilla, and light pine needles/mint. The taste is nice mellow strawberries, tangerine, and cream, along with fresh pine. The Mandarina Bavaria and Citra hops are not very bitter and the IBU is only 30. Sam 1 is creamy with moderate carbonation, and at 7% ABV it's very drinkable. An added benefit is that it was served on cask so the temperature isn't too cold and I could really enjoy the flavors. Overall, when I read the description I thought this ale would be gimmicky but it's really a pleasant pub beer. If you have it in the can, then I suggest that you let it warm a little more than usual for an IPA.

On cask at brewer mid December - just what I'd like - a new brew at the home town brewer.
a) 10oz on tap. Pours dark hazy mahogany with a sleek off white head that lasts and laces
s) Too faint hop aroma melded with back ground of fruit and grass.
t) Almost an EIPA, slightly sweet and malty, but bitterness balances.
f) Fluid, mid-weight, fresh bread, keeps you coming back for more.
o) Solid relaxed malty, fruity, hoppy English India Pale Ale.

10oz on tap. Pours dark hazy amber with a thin white head that lasts. Mild hop aroma but not much to speak of. Taste is fairly malty for an IPA variant. A little up front bitterness, but sweet dominates. Mouthfeel is very good, coating feel. Overall it's good, perhaps not what I expected. Absolutely worth a try.
