A: nice mixture of ruby red and managing. A little bit of dark cherry as well. Has on draft, so it’s a thin white head
S: fig, raisin, plum, caramel, molasses, sweet cherry, and a hint of something nutty
T: fig, caramel, and plum upfront. A hint of molasses and prunes behind that. A nice fresh dough backbone in here
M: medium cusping on heavy. Medium carbonation
O: this is a nice American version on a Dubble. Nice malt character with depth. Not over the top.

16 oz. can dated 12/6/18. Poured into Behind the Veil glass and allowed to warm.
L: No head at all, or lacing, or anything. Beer is a deep cordovan-brown, but still clear enough to see your hand on the other side.
S: Sweet and roasted malts and Belgian yeast. Like a Dubbel should smell.
T: Lots of dark fruit and molasses, along with roast and yeast. Very slightly sweet.
F: Medium body shading on the full side. Not much carbonation. Solid construction and balance. ABV makes it welcomely warming on a cold night.
O: I get the feeling people aren't appreciating what Augie has done here. Good American-made Belgians are hard to find and this is good.

On draught at the brewery. The pour is a medium brown with orange hues and it sports a small, egg shell colored cap and thin sheen of lacing. Its fragrant smell features apple, cherry, raisin, clove, and coriander. The taste opens quite dry but then the fruit really pops. Like a good Dubbel there is abundant raisin, plum, and apple notes. As the glass warms I also taste molasses. It's well-spiced with clove and coriander and finishes with a touch of pepper. It has a great mouth feel for a Dubbel: creamy with moderate carbonation and the 8% ABV is noticeable and gives it a nice pop. While it's not at the level of the leading Belgian examples of the style, it's one of the better American-brewed Dubbels I've tasted and is a great beer for drinking with friends while enjoying lively conversation in Carton's comfortable tasting room.

Very sweet and more banana bread, raisin, current 2nd time around. 1-10-19
Enjoyed at my home town brewer in a 10 oz pour, this is Carton's first dubbel and it's sweet and well made.
a) Dark, winter warmer, Belgian BRUN look, with mocha head and lace.
s) Raisin, winter warmer style, with yeasts and esters rising to balance the sweet nutty, raisin fruity aroma.
t) Follows smell, lots of sweetness, maybe not quite enough bite and bitter back, but a fine Dubbel.
f) Creamy, peppery, balancing the ample sweet fruitiness.
o) Nice first Dubbel from the home team. Would recommend you try this.
