Rare Odub

Canned on 12/9/2018. Poured into Carton O'Dub IPA glass. It pours a hazy, golden-honey color with a large, frothy, bright white head and lots of soapy lacing. The nose features lemon peel, tart grapefruit, cracker malt, and floral hops. The taste opens with tart grapefruit and lemon. The Ekuanot hops are quite bitter and bite hard. The IBU is 80. However, at mid-sip and as the glass warms, there is increasing malt sweetness and tropical fruit notes. It balances very nicely the tart citrus and hops. It finishes with a touch of spice. The taste improves dramatically as it warms a little. Savor it. Like all the Dubviants it is crisp and light with pleasant carbonation and a potent 7.8% ABV. This Dubviant is named for Bogota, in Bergen County, NJ. It's historically a working class town that like many Jersey towns near NYC has experienced gentrification. This ale captures that vibe really well: tough but with an inner gentility. It's another great Dubviant.
