Canned 9/2/22
Alright, finally getting back to Carton, and it’s a weird one. A Berliner Weisse, with charred watermelon, and spearmint?? It sounds insane, just a very strange combination. That being said, I am beyond intrigued by this and I had to get some when I saw it. Let’s get into it
Pours a cloudy brownish gold with a finger of white head that quickly fades to a ring and leaves minimal lacing
The nose here may be a bit simplistic, but the combination of different notes makes it highly interesting. I’m picking up aroma of juicy watermelon, lemon yogurt, crackery malt, mint, smoked malt, and earthy wheat
In taste the tartness is much more subdued, really just pushing this into straight up Fruit Beer, but an interesting one at that. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting juicy watermelon, lemon zest, earthy wheat, mint, beechwood smoke, and light toast. The swallow brings notes of watermelon candy, earthy wheat, cereal grain, lemon zest, and light mint
A light body pairs with moderate carbonation, resulting in a crisp and lightly tart beer. Finishes a bit sticky but still rather refreshing
This one is super weird but also very enjoyable. Gotta give it to Carton for keeping it unique

I love this series of beers but this one is not my favorite. The spearmint comes through but charred watermelon is a tough one. A slightly minty sour is a bit odd but still refreshing and well made. nb

Thank you TheGent for this
16 oz can poured into a teku
A- A slightly hazy golden copper with two finger white head
S- Tart, lemons, wheat, touch of lacto, a hint of smoke, watermelon and spearmint don’t stand out right away but are there and add a nice layer to this.
T- Tart, lemons, wheat, watermelon, hints of smoke, spearmint, touch of lacto.
M- Smooth, light body, crisp.
O- This is a fun Berliner, watermelon and spearmint are not over done and really lift this beer. It is bright but still has a nice floral earthiness that works really well with the other flavors.

1st Review. Brewer writes: "Highlander Weiss Sour Ale with charred watermelon & spearmint ABV 3.9%, SRM 3."
a) hazed light golden body, splashes lace after a small foam head, light carbonation.
s) Hard time rising over the yeasty wild body, slightly soapy, to sniff out the watermelon and mint - just a hint.
But a fall, wet garden windowbox is there.
t) Follows smell, and brings flavor strengths, wine like, fall and orchard notes.
f) fizzy by sour, but softly carbonated, wine like.
o) Refreshing and my Victoria always loves these sours so she's a happy companion.
Everyone at brewer raving about these sours ranging from Blossom to VildBits.
