Every now and then, after catching a whiff of an aroma on a breeze, you think “A beer could smell like that, and probably should”. Smoky wisps of Cannalope Haze drifting over damp fallen leaves on a hiking trail is where this one was germinated. A plush malt bill fermented on the fruitier warm side of London III with Citra, Amarillo and Simcoe grafted on to do their dank thing. We had our hop-distiller extract some hemp terpenes, which we added along with some cantaloupe, to evoke those breezy pulls in the aromas found here. Drink Cantaloupe Haze from the can…biddy biddy bop

Canned on 12/30/2019. Poured into a Carton IPA glass. It pours a hazy, honey-orange color with a very large, fluffy, snow white head and lots of thick, soapy lacing. Its smell is very fruity with fresh melon, tangerine, and lemon, with whiffs of vanilla and floral hops. It's really dank and the taste opens with a blast of melon and tangerine, which I assume come from the Citra and Amarillo hops. There's also a hint of onion, herbs, earthy pine, and cannabis. While it opens fruity, the Simcoe hops provide significant bitterness at the end which creates a nice balance. I'm surprised that it's only 10 IBU - it seems higher to me.This ale has a great mouth feel: it's quite viscous and a touch oily (in a good way). The carbonation is moderate and the 8% ABV gives it a nice heft. Overall, I like Cantaloupe Haze a lot. It's fruity but balanced and the Hemp Seed Oil provides a nice intangible. There's something about the entire package that's distinctively Carton (the water? yeast?). I hope it's not a one-off. I'd buy it again in a Jersey minute.

1st Review. Added by Act25.
a) As expected, body of gold translucent haze, spilling mounds of lace.
s/t ) Looks and tastes as it should a melon fruit salad with cbd drizzled over the top. Immediate melon aroma, in this case, authentic and not flattening the brew. Bitters up just enough to balance. Great first beer of the evening when your taste buds wish for something new, and isnt that part of what keeps us intrigued by craft?
f) Pungent, snappy, clean, juicy, juice-like.
o) So many melon/pumpkin beers disappoint as the fruit in the beer flattens the brew, not so in this fresh case on tap at the brewery. Exciting. Would be great first or dessert beer, as you wish.
