No matter where a thing comes from, It becomes "Jersey" when It marries an "intrinsic awesome" with a "defining edge." Playing this hazy beer game, we've found that Atlantic Highlands water and Kolsch yeast make a decidedly brash Jersey Variation of the plush, modern NEIPAs we love to gulp. An inherent bitter tension is accented by our local combo. In the NJ IPA series, we take malts and hops that we know we love together and give them this Jersey treatment. For East Of Eden Mama, we landed on a blend of Citra, Lemondrop, and Comet, creating juicy orange notes that hold on to their bits of pith and slathered over a plush malt bill. Drink East Of Eden Mama, from the dark heart of a dream.

Poured a cloudy orange body with good, frothy head that left some lace patches around glass. The aroma has notes of mild citric dankness with a touch of oil as welcome as funky tropical fruits. The hoppy bitterness in this medium-bodied and filling beer is low-key and underneath a tropical fruit taste that reminded me of papaya or pink grapefruit. Smooth beer that is easy to drink and mostly a sweet beer but does finish with a slightly bitter crispness.

Pours a opaque dark yellow-orange with three fingers of fluffy white foam. Aroma is papaya, tangerine, lemon, resin, and dank hops. It hits with a swirl of hop qualities, but really clings onto the dank notes. Bubblegum sneaks into the finish, after most of the hop qualities fade. Flavor profile is led by lemon, tangerine, and bubblegum, with a soft note of dank and resin just behind. It really leans into the sweetness, with the sticky hops helping to dry up the finish. Doughy malts sit underneath. Mouth feel is soft, with very little in the way of grit or silt to the texture. Thickness is medium. Overall, a really solid IPA that presents hops without offering them up in overabundance.

Served in a 15.5oz Spiegelau tulip from a 16oz can.

Pours hazy gold/ Frothy white head. Consistent lacing. Aroma is very much lemon, lemongrass, some light bubblegum. Taste is citrus - mostly lemon with grapefruit with a white cracker malt backbone. Feel is medium carbonation with a slightly astringent mouthfeel. Overall, a solid IPA.

Reviewed 4 days after canning. Poured into a Carton IPA glass. It pours a dense, murky, muddy tangerine color with a big, frothy, milk-white cap and thick, soapy lacing. The smell is fruity and bold with lemon, grapefruit, orange, floral hops, and a whiff of cannabis. It's dank as hell. Wow, the taste is great! There is more tangerine/orange than in the nose and it balances the tart, bitter citrus. The Comet hops really shine and also provide earthy, herbal, hemp notes. The Lemon Drop is delicate and the Citra adds a smooth, clean bitterness to the fruit. And you can detect the Kolsch yeast. This tastes like a Carton beer. The mouth feel is excellent, as well: pillowy with pleasant carbonation and very drinkable at 7% ABV. Overall, this is a very nice "NJ IPA". It's big and brash and really tasty. It exudes attitude. I think it's surpassed Neath the Refinery's Glow as my favorite of this series.

1st Review. Sharp, pungent, chalky feel, hempy IPA
a) Glass paints white with lace even fresh at brewer over milkshake, shady apricot body.
s) Flowers, hempy, white citrius, grapes, white pepper.
T) Follow smell, and if you're at Carton brewer, AMPLIFIES, fresh and pungent.
f) Crisp, chalky, bright, astringent, wine like.
o) One of my new faves.
