Boxcarton - Unique to Free Bridge Wine & Spirits. Review from prior notes in Untappd. Apparently the owner Tricia has a good rapport with Augie Carton. The look of this libation is wonderful, with a nice deep, earthy brown and a healthy off-white head. I found it to have a very pleasing level of roastiness to it and a bit of 'smoke' as well, with more hop flavor than one might expect in a porter within the finish. Smooth moderate mouth feel, but very big on flavor for 4% ABV! How do they do that? :)

I really enjoyed this brew. Smooth, complex and tasty, but the finish is the real selling point on this one, giving a surprising dab of sweetness at the end where I've come to expect blandness or bitterness in a porter.

An amazing very drinkable porter from Carton Brewing. The appearance is a dark murky brown that pours a nice small savory head. The aroma was almost nutty with cocoa and vanilla. The mouth feel was very good but could use a little more thickness. The taste was silky smooth and very satisfying. I would absolutely purchase this again as it's a top notch porter. I really enjoyed this and feel it is one of the best porters I have ever had. This beer is made strictly for the establishment so they have a new best friend in me.

Bottom Line: It's not Everett but it's darn good!

The beer is named after the former gentleman's club that was at this location in years past.

Poured from my Growler filled at Freebridge Wine and Beer store in Phillipsburg New Jersey into my Firestone Walker Nonic Pint Glass.

Appearance - Pours an inky black  with a tight yet limited brownish head. a limited lacing is left on the glass.

Smell - This has a very strong and very pleasant intial aroma of coffee beans and rich dark cooca, with a hint of vanilla and chocolate. The aroma is just wonderful. I am pretty sure that i have not had a porter that has such a pleasant and enticing aroma. I think Carton has really nailed the rich Porter aroma with this beer.

Taste - I love when a great aroma translates into an equally great taste, and boy this one sure does that. The coffee and rich cocca aroma translate into a rich, dark and very complex flavor profile. Roasted malt is clearly the star in this beer, with a hint of vanilla subtlely that settles some of the rich flavors that could yield a bitter aftertaste, none exists here. I love the taste profile of this beer

Mouthfeel  - A moderate level of carbonation, appropriate for the style, and a nice bittering leaves behind a cocca type residue. As mentioned the coffee, cocca and chocolate are settled by the vanilla, but still leave behind a nice rich pallette residue.

Overall  - This is a really great. A 4% abv beer in a Porter style with this rich and complex flavor is really nice to find. I understand that this is a very limited offering, and am even hearing that the beer was named after an infamous club in the highlands area. I would encourage lovers of Porter to seek this out and for Carton to expand the offering of this, as it is really good.
