A classic low-ABV oatmeal stout with a smooth body, and a hint of roasted bitterness.
Our Memento Mori is a rich, dark, and complex brew, with flavours of roasted malts, oats, and hints of chocolate and coffee.

I've been drinking some really good stouts lately. This one is behind most of the others. Not really digging it.
Take it how you want to. Give it a try and see if you like it. Others seem to like it more than I.

Look: Pours a deep rich brown boarding on black. The 1 1/2 finger tawny head starts off very rocky, before pulling back leaving moderate lacing
Smell: Leather, dark rye bread and a hint of burnt sugar.
Taste: Starts off light with hints of pumpernickel rye bread, green peppers and bakers chocolate. Ends stronger with a discernable smokey leathery finish.
Feel: Very lightly bodied, and slightly oily on the finish. Fairly smooth. Mouthfeel is this beers weakest point.
A very quaffable light bodied stout. Comes in low on the ABV, so if you're looking for an easy drinking stout you will want to put away a few of in a session this is worth checking out. The smokey character is a highlight which can be found in some Oatmeal stouts but is not always so present. I give it a B+

473 mL can from Maud's; I don't see a packaging date. Served barely chilled.
Pours an opaque oily black colour with glints of crimson red 'round the edges; one finger of loose, frothy, light tan-hued head turns out to be rather short-lived. A thin collar remains, with respectable lace deposition as the level drops after a couple of sips - looks normal enough. Understated aroma of chocolate, burnt grain, cold brew coffee and very light toffee sweetness.
It's a solid light stout - I'm getting flavours of whole grain bread, dark chocolate and roasted grains, with subtler notes of coffee and oats. Roasty and bittersweet on the back end, with dissipating hints of coffee grounds, herbal hops and burnt grain in the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with low carbonation and a very smooth mouthfeel; this is not a 'thick' stout, but at 4.5% it does have more heft than anticipated. Super easy to toss back - I could drink another.
Final Grade: 3.76, squeaking out a B+. Indie Ale House's Memento Mori isn't exactly a showstopper, but if you're looking for a lighter oatmeal stout then you could do far worse. It's a bit forgettable, but the flavours are on point for the style, and that soft, silky mouthfeel ensures that it goes down effortlessly. I'd buy this again, and would encourage other BAs to give it a shot if they can find it.

Many thanks to thehyperduck for setting me up with a bunch of new Ontario stouts to try. This one is coal black with an even, modest head and lots of lacing. The nose is mild chocolate malt hinting at a little sweetness. Medium malt body, a lot of roasty pleasantness here. Super smooth mouthfeel, very nice. A nice version of a low alcohol oatmeal stout. Again, thanks to thehyperduck for this brew.
