Pours deep hazy mahogany with a wispy eggshell head that dissipates quickly. Roasty, nutty, caramel malts and leafy, herbal hops and a bit of lemon in the nose. The taste is malt-centric with doughy, nutty malts up front. Marmalade, fruity yeast esters and herbal hops give good balance and complexity. The mouthfeel is full bodied with fine carbonation reminiscent of cask beer. The finish is lightly bitter with lingering roasty malts and fruity yeast esters.
A nice ESB that could perhaps be a bit hoppier. Balanced and crushable. Worth a try.
