Enjoyed at the brewery. Served at 8deg C in a draught glass

A- Pours a nice high head that lasts for a couple of minutes before film out. Nice medium gold colour and filtered clear

S- Nice hoppy base but not a lot of it

T- Smooth mellow flavor. Nothing is overpowering and the balance between hops, malt and sweetness pretty good.

M- Nice and IPA like

O- Nice balanced brew. Nothing sticks out at you but it is blended well. Will buy again

Food Pairing

This nice little brew would go well with..... French fries dusted with creole seasoning

Enjoy

Had on tap at brewery. Poured into a 10 oz small pint glass. Pale yellow in colour with minimal head. Aromas of oak, grapes, sweet wine, maybe a bit of vanilla and some light malts. Taste follows as more of the same, barrel aging really stands out as the predominant flavours...oaky, fruity (the neighbouring table described it as apple/grape cider, and then promptly put their sample glasses aside and didn't drink it... though I would say that was more a symptom of them never having a sour beer before and not the fault of the beer!) only hints of spice, earthiness and Belgium funk... finishes slightly malty and only ever so bitter. This one is really mellow... Light body and very light on the carbonation.

The two of us that had this beer really liked it but also felt like we were wanting more, because the potential was very good. The chardonnay really is prominent in this one, which is nice, but it is not either sour enough to be a nice refreshing wild ale, or the base beer is not really strong/complex enough to make for a nice aged saison. While I appreciated the flavours that came out of the barrel, I was missing the refreshing acidic/funk and Belgium yeasts, and was certainly reminded that a saison really is better when bottle conditioned as this one was just too flat to make the flavours sparkle. Still, an overall decent beer that is much like other Indie beers, and easy to drink.

On tap @ Bar Hop.

A - Cloudy light yellow in colour with a thin layer of white head.

S - Sweet grapes, oak, bread, toast. Barrel qualities really stand out in the nose.

T - Sweet grape and toasted oak. Bread. Belgian Yeats. Touch of spice.

M - Medium body. Light carbonation.
