Pours a wonderful golden color, quite clear to view the rising carbonation that sustain a thin film on the surface, but a good foamy edge.
The smell is obviously lager, and has the grain/wet hay/barnyard type nose in associate with lagers, especially bolder ones. For an IPL I was hoping for more if a bouquet from the hops, but I think the choice of hops might just be more grassy, which doesn't distinguish it as much to me.
The taste is straightforward grassy bitterness I top of a cracker-like malt lager taste. It reminds me of a mild session IPA in some ways. Unfortunately, the bitterness turns a bit tin-ny to me. The beer's carbonation plays in the tongue, but the finish is dry and lightly grassy.
This beer disappoints slightly. It's not bad, but there are lots of not bad beer out there. The brewery definitely has better offerings, in my opinion.
