Before I read the description, I thought there was maybe something akin to Sorachi Ace in this beer, which seemed an odd choice for this brewery. Turns out the "strangeness" was apparently the ghost peppers. Knowing this, it was a tad more obvious.
Look is lightly hazed orange. Head is white and sustaining, lacing minimal.
Nose was that original "sorachi" impression, but closer inspection is lemongrass, coconut, some lighter tangerine also. Very interesting smell. I somehow don't really get the pepper. If rate higher on the interesting scale, but to style...
The initial, fleeting taste is like the nose. However, the pepper taste comes on more obvious and strong quite quick. To be clear its a peppery taste, not a heat-based taste. To be honest this taste dominates, and some heat does come, but not too bad. It does grow with more sips, however. The relative sweetness I struggle to detect behind the beer I think helps the overall flavor.
I'm sure the base is an IIPA, but this is more of a chile beer at heart, and one that grew on me sip by sip. Will definitely retry when I can.
