a nice strong ale. pours surprisingly dark, redish brown but on the darker end of the spectrum there. nice head too, 2 inches high and white. smells really malty but not sweet at all, balanced by a touch of bittering hops. flavor matches the nose, with a touch of something rich and earthy, like fresh tobacco maybe. feel is nice too, lightly carbonated a la english ales, cant taste the abv at all. touch of burnt sugar in the finish. dangerously sessionable beer

I had this one on tap the other night at the brewery. Poured a dark orange color with a fluffy light brown head. Aromas of caramel, sweet malt and stone fruits. On the palate, this one was medium bodied, and not all that strong, with flavors of toffee, caramel, sweet malt and stone fruit.

Pretty interesting brew from the B&B. Not sure if it's the malt they're using or what, but this beer is REALLY sweet. Reminds me a lot of their scotch ale, which was also sweet. I don't mind it as I like a sweet malty beer, but it's unusual.
Arrives a copperish red color. A little bit of head on the top, but not too much. I was prepared for it to be really potent as a result, but I think it's just not that foamy. I've had it 3 times and it's been like this every time.
Smell is of honey, dried fruit, and a little smokiness. Reminds me of the smell of an Old Chub, actually.
Flavor is initially of caramel, nuts, and honey. The finish is a little bit of bittersweet chocolate and there's actually even a little hops in the end. Much like the scotch ale, there is a cider flavor that comes out. Definitely a caramel apple flavor. Maybe some balsamic, too?
Mouthfeel's light and I had no issue drinking a pint of this almost too fast.
It's got a little bit of an alcohol kick, but I have no idea of the potency based on the previous reviews.
Either way, I did like this brew and I brought a growler of it home.
If you don't like sweet beers, avoid this beer like no other. I can't say I've EVER had a sweeter beer than this one, except maybe the B&B's Scotch Ale.
Still, if you like a malty sweet brew, give this a shot!

This strong ale appeared a ruby red in my pint glass. The smell was a little caramel. The taste had a cherry cough syrup note. My friend noted that it also tasted like a cigar. Maybe a little sweet tobacco in there. The bartender told me that the ABV was 6% so I don;t know why it is listed as 9%. I couldn't taste the alcohol. Decent beer but one pint was enough.

This is listed as a strong ale, and the asst. brewer said it was and English ale. I thought I'd try it.
Poured a dark burgundy/brown body, shimmering red tints. Small white head, that didn't last too long.
A sweet malt smell, some dark berry hints and medicine.
Some malts in the taste, Phenolic as well. The berry flavor is a bit astringent and the hops are outmatched.
Not a bad beer, but a pint is too much to take
