brewed for their 47th anniversary (wow)! this is a pineapple farmhouse ale, and a really well built beer, fairly simple, but thats part of the charm here i reckon. pale yellow beer from the tap, soda-like carbonation, a bubbly white head, and shiny, close to clear. the nose is neat, not overly fruit forward but the pineapple is there, sweet and tropical and super compatible with the esters of this yeast, which seems to me like a french saison type, light white wine notes to it, which really marries well with the subtle pineapple. it definitely smells and tastes like real fruit was used here, there is that fleshy naturalness to it, delicate in taste but its there. kind of some belgian esters too, which work well in here, subtle minerals and tea and even candy, but this is fermented down to about dry, and with the light body and high carbonation, it seems really drinkable. it gets a little more flavorful as it warms up, more pineapple, green grape, green apple, and white wheat, still delicate and lively though. a really neat beer with some heavier foods in here like the peppery bacon on my sandwich, their green chili over mashed potatoes, or the almond crusted buffalo tenders. bull and bush remains one of the best breweries and best kept beer secrets in denver. i love these guys!
