I had a couple glasses of Taps' ESB while attending their Harvest beer dinner last night. This ESB had a clear bronze color and a soapy white head that was pretty durable and left nice lace behind.
The nose had a more pronounced floral, fruity sweet aroma to it than expected. Not much else was able to cut through those notes except for a lighter herbal hops scent.
The taste was really sweet up front with the flavors of apples, pears and rose hips being at the fore. A mild cereal-like malt taste came across briefly before a pleasant herbal hops bite latched on to the back of the tongue. The feel was light and smooth with a dry finish.
Overall, Taps ESB was pretty drinkable and paired up well with the meat and veggies served with it. Still, it didn't strike me as a real strong representation of the style and nothing I'd order by itself.
