On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours golden with a light white head, limited lace.

S: Nose is intriguing with some clear pineapple juice and canatloupe. Definitely a tropical nose.

T: The flavour is real light on the malt. The hops dominate here but never take over the brew. Melon, pineapple, some tangerine, easy going flavours, almost too light at times, but a good drink.

M: Light-bodied, crisp and very smooth.

O: An enjoyable pale ale. West Coast style, but has a nice balance.

On cask....

A: Nice dark yellow hue with a white milkshake-like head and lacing.

S: A noticeable and clean hop aroma off the bat with some malt body to balance it out. A bit more hop character than I had originally anticipated, but pleasant never the less.

T: Even though the malt body is light, it's character and flavor really shine through nicely. Hop flavor is present as well, but unlike the aroma, the taste stays true to the APA style.

M: Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but TAPS does cask right! A little more full body than the on tap version, but still provides a good refreshing feeling with a slight dry touch at the end.

O: A really really good APA! Tried both the tap and cask version. I think the cask version held true to the style more and I liked how sessionable it was...on top of the multitude of flavors it exhibited. The tap version was very good, but had a much stronger hop bite. Reminded me a lot of a maltier version of "Cali Gold" that TAPS also serves.

To sum it up...I really dig this beer! A must try! Cheers!

On-tap at Taps (Brea)

A: The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a small white head.

S: A nice aroma to it with lots of citrus hop notes. Plenty of ripe grapefruit, as well as the rind. Some tangerine notes are also there, as is some pine. A light bready malt aroma is present underneath.

T: The flavor starts off quite nicely. A big burst of hop flavor, lots of grapefruit and tangerine. There is a pine bitterness in there, too. As the beer warms up, though, a lot of malt sweetness comes through.

M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: This was a pretty solid beer. Not too many things wrong here, but I wish it didn't become sweet as it sat in the glass.
