Deep dark brown color where light barely passes through the edge of the glass. Tiny head which settles to rim bubbles. Nearly no lace.
Darker malted barley dominates the smell but there's also an awesome light spice in the background -- a combination of cinnamon and hot peppers.
The taste (briefly!) starts traditionally with darker toasted malts. I get faint vanilla as well. The spices come in quickly and with a vengeance -- very hot and spicy. This heats the mouth for a very long time. One can get relief from a follow up sip, but of course, that becomes hot all over again. This beer would pair nicely with a salad topped with a creamy dressing.
For what this is, it is done very well. Think Tabasco and Porter together... It's good and worthy of another.

Pours out a dark brown but sits in the glass black. Fairly spicy. Chocolate, cocao and roasted malt. Shorter finish. Medium to lighter bodied. Solid.
