Served in a tumbler at Mundelein Brewfest 2014.
Headin' to the host area to try out the only Tighthead beer I haven't yet encountered. It pours a clear midnight sienna topped by a finger of sandstone foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, light cocoa powder, candied orange peel, pine sap, and a touch of pumpernickel. The taste brings in more of the same, everything blending fairly nicely in a way most black IPAs can't approach. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, one of the better black IPAs I've had in a while, though still not something I'm gonna revisit all that often (personal preference, you could call it).
