A Tighthead wee heavy on a barrel? I'm down. It pours a clear russet-garnet topped by a half-finger of glowing tan foam. The nose comprises rich caramel, light chocolate powder, mild bourbon, toasted biscuit, dried maple syrup, very light earthy greens, and a few drops of molasses. The taste brings in more of the same, the sweet, malty characters blending very nicely with the understated-but-still-very-much-present barrel. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a syrupy feel. Overall, a pretty damn nice beer, a treat I'm likely to indulge in often during my visits.
