Served from the tap in a snifter at the Tighthead tap room.
Well, apparently trivia is canceled for the evening, what with the Cubs playing in the World Series and all, but I'm gonna stick around, anyway, and enjoy some brews. This one pours a mildly hazy amber-gold topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises bright grapefruit zest, mild lemon peel, light mandarin orange, honey, light cracked wheat, a hint of mango, and a hint of what may or may not be passion fruit. The taste brings in more of the same, along with some extra grapefruit peel and a touch of vague minty-ness near the finish. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, a damn solid DIPA, one that skews toward fruitiness without overindulging, and one that provides a decent amount of bitterness and strength alongside a slightly sweet balancing backbone. Good times.
