A true to form, Bavarian style Marzen/Oktoberfest lager, our Oktoberfest is malty, complex and perfectly balanced with traditonal German Noble hops. This Fest Bier was originally brewed for the wedding celebration of Crown Prince Ludwig in 1810 and has continued annually in Munich and is one of the largest beer celebrations in the world.

Clear Amber body, full khaki head with sporadic blobs of lacing. Aromas of Munich malts dominate the nose, with brown bread yeast and slight nut, more delicate overall. Taste has the malts staring but now the yeast is a more equal partner, with supporting mild earth, dark grain, and dark nut. Feel stars dry yeast and smooth malts, simpler and smooth with a touch of froth

Dark amber in color, good clarity, and a soapy off-white head. The aroma is lightly malty, with a bready note, but it is a little fainter than I’d like. The taste is balanced, with malt as a centerpiece. Flavorful and fairly full in body. Okay, but not great.

Dark amber with a finger of lasting off-white foam, spotty lace down the sides. Good clarity, slow rising carb trails are visible.
Nutty, bready malt aroma, vague apple esters.
Soft pleasant malt flavors, pretty typical syraightforward breadiness.
Slightly astringent at first but it seems to pass. Light bodied with a little extra weight. Mellow carbonation, finishes dry and vaguely nutty. Overall it’s a pretty standard American interpretation, thankfully not sweet.

Just found this seasonal from the brewery-down-the-street. I sampled it on tap last year and liked it, let's see how it holds up in cans.
Canned on 8/23/17. Poured into my short Becher glass.
A -- Rather hazy, deep orange-copper color with a fizzy, eggshell colored head that dies rather quickly.
S -- Sweet bready, earthy malts.
T -- Nutty, rather earthy malts with a good balance of spicy hops in the finish. Aftertaste of nutty malts and spicy hops and a light hint of caramel.
F -- Mouthfeel is crisp and dry with a light-medium body.
O -- The cloudy appearance and rather flat carbonation make this pretty lackluster for an Oktoberfest. I wish there was more melanoidin character coming through as well. I wish I was more enthusiastic with the brewery being in my neighborhood -- I'd love a good local Festbier, as is -- this is more American Amber Lager than Märzen.

Serving: 28 Oct 2016
Serving: On tap, 4oz sampler
This was the first and one of the only Tighthead brews I was really let down by. The beer was very thin and rather flavorless- little malt notes of any type and lacking any sort of presence.
