Had on tap. A mighty fortress is our God, not this beer. Dark brown opaque body with a tan collar. Smell and taste have a giant plum and dark malt bomb of a complexion, which is great, but then there is nothing else besides some finishing kiss of sulfur. Feel is malty the whole way, like a plaster of malt covering everything up, lighter bodied.

Good pour into an standard cup. Strong malt nose. Light on the feel, wish it was a bit thickets for the flavors to linger longer. Get citrus and dark dried fruit on the taste with a drier finish.
Overall a good beer that I will definitely be buying and enjoying again.

On tap. Poured out a clear, golden amber color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of caramel, toffee and floral notes. Sweet caramel and toffee. Not much bitterness or depth.

16oz, canned on 11/06/17. Foamy beige head slowly fades atop a reddish hued/burnt caramel colored ale. Malty and spicy aroma with toasty grain and caramel. Full flavor with nice complexity and notes of toasty grain, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and rye bread crust along with some earthy & spicy hops. Full bodied, nicely balanced, alcohol is warming, finishing very dry. Really solid doppelbock in my opinion.

Just spotted this one on shelves -- not sure just when it came out, but my 4-pack was canned on November 6, 2017.
Poured into my short Becher glass.
L -- Hazy deep copper color with amber highlights from a flash. Rather thin, off-white head.
S -- Cookie sweetness up front with some earthiness, light fruitiness, and spicy alcohol in tow.
T -- Sweet bready malts up front with mild dark fruit and caramel notes finishing with mild bitterness and spicy, nearly hot, alcohol. The mild bitterness and hotness linger into the aftertaste.
F -- Mouthfeel is soft to syrupy with a medium-robust body and lightly dry finish.
O -- The hot, spicy alcohol and dryness of this beer seems to overwhelm the bready malts that fight hard to be recognized. Love to try this with a little less attenuation to see if the malts emerge triumphant. The clarity of this lager is also a little distracting from a usually crystal clear style.
