Had this as part of the ReplicAle sampler at DryHop. Served in a 5oz taster glass.
A - White foam settles to a partial cap, thick collar, and glass-coating lace. Transparent golden body with a light haze to it.
S - Big Centennial hop aroma; this was the ReplicAle that 'popped' the most. Juicy citrus flesh, a touch of dank herb, a bit of grapefruit pith, and that peripheral pungent musky character I tend to get from this hop. Light biscuit is imparted by the pils malt, but it's well in the background.
T - Taste is similarly dominated by juicy citrus flesh, with some moderately bitter rind and peel. Malt sweetness is more typical of an IPA, and the pils character is less distinct here. Bitterness seems higher than the target 60 IBU.
M - Dry, medium body, with pleasant carbonation and some residual hop oils and resins. No perceptible alcohol.
D - A nice beer that reminded me that even with all these new hop varietals, Centennial is still pretty nice. Actually, the Centennial and Amarillo (DryHop) were the best offerings in the sampler! Was a bit underwhelmed by the Calypso (Begyle) and Crystal (Half Acre) offerings, and Nelson Sauvin (Flesk) had off flavors. In any case, another solid brew from TIghthead; I'll need to go visit the taproom in the future.

Served in a shaker pint glass at the tap room.
The newest beer to the Tighthead stable is the brewery's take on this year's Brewers' Guild ReplicAle. Described as a "hoppy golden ale", the theme recipe consists of 100% pilsner malt, American Ale yeast from White Labs, and a single hop chosen by the breweries, each brewery working with a unique varietal. Tighthead went with Centennial.
This stuff pours a clear straw topped by a finger of wan bone foam. The nose comprises mild grapefruit peel, light pine resin, and a hint of sweet biscuit. The taste comprises grapefruit zest, pine sap, a touch of grass, and a tiny bit of light biscuit waaaay in the background. The body straddles the line between hefty light and light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a nice little brew, though it lacks a bit of defining character. I could easily see drinking a few of these during a visit to the tap room, but the other options just seem more attractive...
