Tasty IPA. Nice copper color and good hoppy smell. Good IPA taste. Just the right amount of alcohol. Another solid brew from Bronx.

Some brewers get jiggy trying to be creative. Until now I've rated Bronx higher than most BAs, but this one disappoints for being odd, soapy and metallic.
a) crystal clear, copper body w 1.5 finger white head that receded to a filmy cap with dotty lace.
t) Continues metallic and soapy, with a bit of earthy, all too dominant, not exciting, flattish, citric and pine finish.
f) thin to medium bodied; light carbonation; soapy but dry finish; too soapy.
o) Odd but not original as their recent Lemon rind infused beers were original and surprising.

The Bronx Brewery "Crystal Whipped IPA"
12 fl. oz can without production codes or freshness dating
$2.79 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Hmmm, it's surprisingly cloudy, I wasn't expecting that, but I guess that's OK as hazy beers are "in" right now. It's a cloudy amber-orange beneath a short head of creamy yellowed off-white foam. The aroma is floral, grainy, a touch spicy, and lightly citrusy. I'm not sure what's "whipped" about this beer. Is there anything on the label? No, I guess it's just marketing. The flavor is much fuller than the aroma suggests. It's quite lemony, piney, a little grassy, and spicy. I hadn't realized until just now reading the can that it's got a portion of rye malt to it, and that explains the spiciness. It's solidly bitter and it finishes dry, spicy, lemon-creme-like, and mildly piney and earthy. It's medium bodied and crisp, giving you a good hop burp! Looking back, the head dropped rather quickly and very little lacing has been left behind, almost none. It's interesting and a little bit unusual, but at the same time it doesn't quite live up to the sum of its parts. Maybe it's just a little too ambitious; an example of less being more at times. Of course I could be wrong, it is nicely refreshing. Not a bad beer overall. Worth trying.

12oz can served in a tulip. If there's a date, I don't see it.
Pours clear, deep honey, medium to large head and lots of carbonation. Smell is hay/grass, pine undertone.
Taste is old hops and metallic. Biting bitter finish. Lingering metal.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, very dry. Overall...not finishing this beer.

Can from Tavour
Slightly hazy medium golden color with a small but lasting tightly bubbled white head. Sweet bread citrus and pine on the nose with bits of milk sugar. The flavor follows the aroma a little lactic and oxidation in there as well. Ok beer a bit weird for my tastes.

A: crystal clear; copper in color; 1+ finger ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;
S: earthy, with pine and rye spice in the background;
T: earthy up front; pine builds from the middle through the finish, although it's never overwhelming; finish is mild to moderately bitter;
M: medium bodied; light to moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;
O: this isn't a bad beer; however, the can promises a smack in the face that the beer doesn't deliver;

Poured from a 12 oz can.
Look - lemon yellow in color, small head with considerable lacing.
Smell - nutty and hoppy, with some booze in the nose. grass and citrus. a bit light on smell
Taste - good rye flavor with a bit of spiciness, nutty, and very strong in hop flavor with a fair bit of bitterness, which lingers for quite some time.
Feel - light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, 6.5% ABV, but tastes even stronger than that.
Overall - a nonstandard IPA with a twist in the malts. Tastes similar to the old rye pale ale that Bronx Brewery offers, which I personally like more.

I'm a little disappointed in this. Having got this through Tavour, there's a certain quality I've grown to expect. This is good but pretty pedestrian to me. Don't get me wrong, like it. But I'm sure Bronx Brewery has much better. I will say my last drink of this had a perfect taste of grapefruit. It certainly has it's merit. Very drinkable.
