Dark porter, topped with a thick tan head with great retention.
Lots of roast on the nose, along with peanuts, toasted coconut, cocoa, vanilla, toffee, and noble hops. Everything is subtle, but really a quite complex nose.
Almost none of it translates to the palate. Thin and slightly sour, it's just a bit off up front. On the backend, coconut finally kicks in, and the finish is actually pleasant, also featuring peanut notes (which I don't believe are added to this beer).
Overall, this is another less than stellar brew from Due South. It's got some promise, but the basic foundation just isn't there.
