Our award winning imperial IPA gets even better with the addition of Florida grapefruit peel. Enjoy the great flavors of citrus-heavy hops with some intense pithy bitterness from the use of fresh peel from Indian River County, Florida.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. can into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Hazy dark gold with some floaters wandering about in suspension. Quite a bit of active visible carbonation. Forms a 1 1/2 finger white head with average retention for style, before diminishing to a ring of foam.

S: Grapefruit (no surprise there) with a good bit of pithiness. Biscuit malts with a touch of caramel, and then pine and resinous aromatics. A touch of grass and vegetal and fresh cut bushes. An old school approach to the hop profile, with extra grapefruit. It's fine for what it is, I suppose.

T: Grapefruit – pulpy with a good scoop of white chewy pith. Resin bitterness, biscuit malts with a modest caramel flavor and a bit of toastiness – some brassy malt character with a bit of naked alpha bitter that’s reminiscent of some average American red ales. More grapefruit and naked alpha acids in the hang.

M: Medium heft to the body, good carbonation sensation. The alcohol flavors are maybe a touch more than average for style.

O: I dunno. I found this to be somewhere between passable and just a slice of nostalgia for 2007. If a grapefruit East Coast IPA is sounding good to you, it’s solid. Nothing I’ll be picking up again though.

Oddly this was a darker IPA and the last bit that went in the glass was super cloudy. Aroma is sticky grapefruit. Flavor is sweet malt, grapefruit, pretty tasty actually.

Hazy, dark orange body; thick, fluffy, white head. Huge aroma of orange and grapefruit. Big tart and citrus flavors; orange zest; nice caramel malt base; bold hop bitterness. Heavy body; underlying edge of tart and bitter zing; residual sugar heft with a semi-sweet finish.

Big beer with a zesty, prickly, bitter and citric tone.

Pull my pants up, put some socks on with my sandles, sport a fedora and grab dinner at 4pm and I’m rocking south Florida at the first sip of this Boynton Beach, Florida beer. Really enjoyed this pour, the noise on this is literally what you would imagine waking up on the beach would be, pure citrus magic. That noise continues thru the taste and leaves a nice bitter grapefruit feel on the back of your tongue. I can only imagine this on tap, worth your time if you come across it. Cheers.
