Pours deep dark chocolate with nice fluffy tan colored foamy crown from BJ’s tall pint can beer of the month. This dark IPA is a nice marriage of malt flavors of chocolate and roasted coffee with a citrus hoppy 61 IBU IPA punch. Smooth + bitter at 6.7% ABV.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - it's always a matter of what you like. I already am an IPA fan and a chance to try a dark IPA was irresistible. I liked it a lot. Beautiful dark color; with my eyes closed I would still identify as an IPA and I really enjoyed the taste. Smell is the only weak point. Other than that, I would have no problem keeping this on my summer beer list. Why yes, I will take a grower home.

From the tap and black as night this beer had a short but full head and nice lacing. Aroma with hints of cocoa. Mouth feel was light with nice chocolate and toasted flavor, slight bitter hops aftertaste. Very drinkable chocolate stout style beer with a bit more kick but less refinement than a Guinness.

Was a dark and rich looking brew with a nice head. It smelled great and hoppy. It had a burnt hop taste that was oddly bitter. It had a medium mouthfeel. I didn't find this beer very appealing overall. Disappointed for BJ's.
It was paired at the beer dinner with the "Italian Market Tavern-Cut Pizza", that needed anchovies.
