5oz sample at BJ's (Brea) 5/17/2010. All variations spent about the same amount of time in the barrels (since September or October 2009) and looked about the same.
Pours deep red and mildly hazy. Nice white head with not much in the way of lacing or retention.
Aroma is oaky and sweet. I think I detect slight traces of funk.
Flavor is heavy on the American oak. Moderately woody and sweet. Not much in the way of char from the wood. Also a bit of sourness on the back end and a little more fruitiness than I got from the previous version. Is that wine or is that brett?
Body is medium and this is drinkable. More of an oaked Jeremiah than a sour.
