Had never heard of Latitude 33 deciding to release different styles of Native Trails, which I had never tried. Not sure this is the base beer, but sure, let’s go with it for now. Love this vastly underrated brewery and was happy to see a few new beers from them on a recent visit to Windmill Farms. Can described this as, “Join us on a rotating flavor experiment. Poured a very dark color with three fingers of khaki tan frothy head. A few slow moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled blackberry, blueberry, toasty notes, cocoa, dark chocolate, mixed berry, vanilla and coffee malts. (Smell - 4.00)
Great mix of berries and porter notes on the tongue. Got blackberry, blueberry and mixed berry up front, bitter coffee, dark chocolate and toasty malts in the back. Also vanilla, cocoa and nuts. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Toasty, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Wow. Really liked this porter. Somehow those berries really worked with the roasty malts of a porter. (Overall - 4.25)

L: dark brown, with loads of light-chocolate-milk-colored head
S: Chocolate/cocoa and blueberries
T: Blueberries, hints of blackberries. Roasty chocolate malts, maybe some tiny hints of smoke as well. A slight metallic taste. This beer does an amazing job at balancing the berry flavor and the roasty chocolate malt flavor. Definitely a unique beer, and a good one at that.
F: Medium bodied. Average carbonation, fairly smooth, almost creamy.
O: I couldn’t see myself having more than one or two of these at the time. So not a sessionable beer. But a quite delicious occasional treat. Highly recommended.
