OG: 1.081 FG: 1.014 ABV: 8.5% SRM: 5 IBU: 95
Tasting Notes: Our imperial IPA was originally brewed to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary in 2014. We were so taken with her, we decided to keep her on as one of our first bottled beers. A complex IPA that delivers on many lev-els. The simplicity of the grain bill allows the hops to really shine. Tropical fruits and lemon on the nose with a spicy finish that tickles your taste buds.

Pours a hazy dark straw color. A large billowing bubbly head retains well and yields thick layers of foamy lacing.
Good ole fashion IPA aroma that emits citrus, grapefruit and orange pith. The smell of pine, grass and herbal dank, nearly pungent on the nose, begins to develop in conjunction with the citrus.
The sweetness on the tongue highlights a thick and doughy malt base, hints of caramel and graham cracker. However, the hops battle for center stage, bringing forth flavors of grapefruit pulp, orange pith, light lemon zest, sharp pine and danky resin in the finish. The bitterness is moderate and provides a good counterpoint to the malt fullness.
The mouthfeel is on the full side of medium bodied, juicy and frothy, yet with a zesty citric sting and a sharp piny prickle.
Solid DIPA all around.

L: Hazy, almost completely opaque golden orange with a creamy white head. Medium retention; a thin ring always remains, and spotty lacing is left behind.

S: Big citrus; some orange and lemon, stone and tropical fruit; peach, apricot, pineapple; very light/soft cracker/biscuit malt, and slight dank grassiness and spice.

T: Tons of orange, lemon, and honeydew melon upfront, then a wave of blood orange and grapefruit; lots of apricot, peach, mango, and pineapple on the mid-palate; a touch of pine; biscuit/crackery malt backbone, hints of dank grass; smooth vanilla malt flavors, then a lightly dry finish with almost no bitterness, aside from a pop of orange peel and dankness.

F: Really creamy and thick; moderately carbonated, lightly dry with no lingering bitterness or off-flavors.

O: A really good NE IPA! Great to have these guys as a semi-local brewery. Really nice flavorful IPA!

This one pours a dark-ish and slightly hazy orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This one smells pretty nice, with pine resin and orange zest, some grapefruit, etc, but the malt character just bowls it's way through the beer- I get tons of caramel on the nose.

This is decent enough, but the malt character is far too dominant. The hops are strong, but not nearly strong enough to overcome the caramel-soaked brown bread malt character. The malt backbone is fairly tasty, so it's ok in the end, but I want the hops to shine more.

This is medium bodied, pretty creamy, with a good level of carbonation.

This needs a bit of tweaking. It's a good start, though.

Nice enough DIPA but aroma is let down somewhat by the flavor. A healthy dose of fruity, tropical and citrus hop notes in the aroma mostly fail to materialize in the taste, which is pleasant enough but not terribly interesting. Dry and subdued malt bill. Medium bodied with a crisp feel. Above average but lacking in overall depth of flavor to my taste.

Orange Amber color initially poured with a haze that cleared the lacy head had excellent retention. Floral tropical fruit smell that have a strong hops expectation. Taste had hops up front with strong bitterness 24th at was tempered with a lightly toasted malt sweetness. Definite alcohol taste but not overpowering. Sweet floral finish that did not have a lingering bitterness. Medium body with smooth mouthfel
