An imperial chocolate stout brewed with cocoa nibs & cocoa powder to commemorate the day, in September 1955, that a freight train carrying a load of Nestle chocolate derailed from the Ontario and Western Railroad in Hamilton just yards from our brewery.

This beer puts a lot of the more sought after Stouts to shame. One of the best Stouts I've ever had.

Pours dark brown with a 1/4 inch tan head. No lacing.

Aroma is most definitely chocolate. Also detecting roasted malts, brown sugar.

Taste is dark cocoa, burnt coffee.

Thick, full bodied, light carbonation. Semi-sweet, oily finish.

This is the most "chocolately" of the chocolate beers I've had. Tasty!

Mild smell compared to many other chocolate stouts. I found the taste weak combined with a weak nose. When poured this beer has lots of lacing and can also form milk like bubbles.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a dark beige head.
S: Light to moderate aromas of chocolate are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of dark milk chocolate. No bitterness is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and smooth on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is like drinking a liquid chocolate bar and is very chocolatey. I was very impressed with how well it hid any traces of alcohol from the taste.

Had this at the 2015 Ballpark Brewfest in Syracuse, NY where I got to chat with Matt Whalen, brewmaster at Good Nature.
Poured with a nice tan head that stayed for a good minute. Dark, near black appearance.
Aroma- if you like chocolate stouts, this is a good one. The smell was awesome!! Chocolate and hot chocolate smell that made me want to take a bath in it!!
Taste- followed the aroma, chocolate in the front, middle and finish with hot chocolate and vanilla in the background. Not boozy at all for a 10% brew.
Feel- creamy and full bodied with a good amount of carbonation.
Overall- I always expect chocolate stouts to be overly sweet, but this hits the chocolate tastes without that sickly sweet flavor. I could not detect any hop presence, but knew it was there to make this so balanced. Loved it!!!

Beer poured dark brown, almost black, with red highlights when held up to the light. Had a thick, tan, spongy-looking head. The nose had a prominent alcohol tinge to it, accompanying notes of cocoa and molasses. Chocolaty on the tongue, ending with bitter coffee notes and an alcohol warmth in the throat. Mouthfeel was full bodied with moderate carbonation. The alcohol left a tingling on the tongue and burnt-caramel aftertaste.

A highly enjoyable beer for a cool evening. Make sure you aren't driving anywhere for a while, though.
