On tap at Coney Island Brewery, Brooklyn, NY.
Pours a golden color with a touch of amber. A moderate head retains well.
The nose opens fruity with notes of strawberry, in particular, and accompanying notes of grape, citrus and melon. Aromas of black pepper also stand out, along with musty and lightly funky notes of earth and grass.
Lightly tart with with notes of sourdough, white wine vinegar, musty grape, lemon and lime. The tartness is sweetened by strawberry purée and bready malts. Earthy, funky and rustic, vinous and cider like, and a dry palate. Notes of black pepper, cracker, melon and grass. The finish is tart and very dry.
Medium body and moderately carbonated. Mostly smooth mouthfeel with some tingle from the tartness.
Not the best Saison I’ve ever had but it has some interesting flavors and is thirst quenching nevertheless.
