I’ve been waiting for My Ruca, or “one and only love”. Citrusy and tropical flavors abound in this American Pale Ale. This is our take on a “West Coast-Style” Pale Ale, which refers to the hop varieties used and the flavors they impart (delicious ones). Well-balanced, easy-drinking, pleasant (hop) character: all of the makings of a perfect soulmate, uh… I mean beer. We think you’ll find My Ruca to be sublime.

Appearance: A nice bubble show produces a two finger head over the clear light amber liquid; solid retention with webs of lacing
Smell: A stone fruit base with a hint of caramel is the foundation for some herbal and earthy hop tones
Taste: Crusty bread and stone fruit with a hint of caramel underneath; through the middle, the earthy, herbal hops emerge to provide some bitterness to the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: A good, middle of the road APA - a style that has almost vanished from the craft beer scene
Thanks, muchloveforhops3, for the opportunity

Very little of the citrus I love in ipas. Nothing objectionable. Just a middle of the road ibu, with a good rounded malt base

this appears to be one of their more popular beers and i can certainly see why, its excellent, among the best of theirs i had on my trip, and frankly a downright delicious pale ale that is both modern and timeless. at first the slightly copper toned malt look this has had me thinking it would be all old school and over balanced, but its not like that at all, the body is light, the beer is dry, and the grain exists to support the hops, do not let the color fool you. great clarity though which is a rarity these days, and a nice inch of white head from the tap, good looking pint. it smells a tad sweet from the grain but the flavor is more nutty and dry, well grounded without being heavy or anything. tons of flavor from the hops, definitely some spruce to it, but also a light berry note, a hint of floral honey, and a palate coating oiliness that makes it feel a little bigger than it is, like the bitterness is about to smack me, but it never does, a very mild and even pretty quick finish as these go, making this a very mellow drinker for having so much flavor, impressively well refined overall too. this is a true american pale, i remember when this was how the style was approached, and i miss it. one of the better takes on the style i have had in a long time!

Walked into BWW and told this was off menu, no one orders it. Asked for a taste, and glad I did. Nothing special about the appearance, head just perfectly pleasant. Smell and feel super crisp and fresh. Taste smacks strongly of mango and preserves the fresh, hoppy impression. Finishes beautifully. My only ding of Draught Works beers so far is that they can sometimes feel as if the fruit is concentrated or from some sort of extract, somewhat artificial.

6/4/18...pours copper, see through lid of white foam. Malty nose, fairly mundane. Sharp citrus forward taste with a biscuity malt backbone. Simple and tasty.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear amber color with a huge off white head of fizzy white foam. The head fades slowly over time to leave a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is mostly of a grainy bread smell mixed with some grapefruit and herbal hop aroma. There is a touch of caramel and a little bit of toffee and light fruits.
Taste – The taste begins with a bready flavor that has some caramel flavors as well as some light fruit tastes of tangerine and apple as well as a decent showing of some grapefruit hop. The tastes are a little strange upfront, not really melding all that well. As the taste advances more hop comes to the tongue in the form of some earth and herb, all while the sweet and grapefruit fade a bit. With an increase in the malt and a touch of hay coming to the tongue, one is left with a malty, and light dank and moderately hopped taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the mix of hop flavors, medium malt, and light sweet the feel is decent although a little thinner of a body and a higher carbonation may have made for a better drinker overall.
Overall – An OK brew overall, but nothing to really pine after.

Brilliantly clear amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is light grapefruity citrus and a little floral. Flavor is grapefruit zest, with piney/resiny notes, especially in the back, and a little bread crust toastiness. Bitterness is medium to medium-low, and does not linger. Medium bodied, good carbonation, and dry. This beer takes all the best parts of your classic pale ales and makes them shine.

This beer was right in my wheel house, great clear golden copper color with a decent head that left its trail as the glass emptied. Great citrus nose the didn't overwhelm that led into the same taste and aftertaste. Very worthy. Somewhere between Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Pliny the Elder.
