Recipe change? This is now a BLACK IPA; had on-tap at the Brewery. Black pour, bubbly mocha head; nice bitter roast component blends with an herbal/piney hop backbone that mesh well; espresso, resin, grapefruit rind, roasted/"burnt" malt...almost acrid in its bitterness. My kind of black IPA.

Draft at PreFunk-Nampa. Pleasant surprise. Near black pour, small soft head leaves curtains of lacing. Big roast grain aroma gets more prominent in taste. Huge bitter bite, but roast malts carry it well.

Taste is everythimg for a beer to me and tgis one hits it, similar to a port but still heavy enough to be an ipa, its art lives up to its name.

This is a Black Double IPA. I was able to score a growler at Brewforia in Meridian. Coffee black with very minimal white head that does lace and stick to the glass. Piney smelling, with a mellow front end taste. Burnt malts, and a subtle sweetness before the hops kick in on the back end of the taste. The hops linger, but are not overpowering. You don't need to be a hophead to enjoy this beer. I thought the alcohol is well hidden- not boozy at all for 9% beer.
