Light, slightly funky, with even of a bit of earth mixed with hints of banana in the nose. This flaxen "dork" summer-ale isn't, strictly speaking, a saison—or at least I'd quibble with the designation—it does have a very pleasing strain of wildness and a sharp bite, both of which are mostly necessary for a great saison.
But it's also very light, refreshing, and would be extremely nice on a hot, dry Idaho's summer day—indeed, it'd even be sessionable, if available in sizes small than a 22-ounce bomber. I picked my bomber up in mid-October, however, and kept it refrigerated until Christmas Day—a little Christmas-in-July inversion: July-in-Christmas—and it's nonetheless entirely delightful on a chilly late-year evening. Really, I'm surprised by the low ratings—scant as they are—because this is pretty tasty, appropriately summery, yet anytime-drinkable ale.

Not sure if the growler on the bike in the hot sun and bumpy trail spoiled this batch, but it seems relatively flat. Nice hazy appearance and oil sheen head, aroma is almost non-existent, taste is bread and crackers, some yeast, slight bitterness in the finish. I was hoping for better, but will have to try a sample straight from the tap.
