Our winter seasonal ale, Tinsel, is classic like a Norman Rockwell painting wrapped up with the warmth and spirit that only the holidays bring.
This deep ruby American amber ale has rich malty flavors of caramel, toffee and a smooth grainy sweetness from flaked barley, combined with all spice, honey, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Presentation: 12 oz can with sticker stating "Born on 11-02" poured into pint glass.
Look: Dark, hazy amber with a 1/2 finger off white head. Head is gone almost as fast as it came leaving a soapy residue over most of the top.
Smell: Malts, nutmeg, and I think there is a hint of ginger, too.
Taste: Follows the nose, slightly bitter taste on the swallow.
Feel: Medium body with moderately high carbonation and a dry finish.
Overall: A solid, flavorful beer.

Pours a reddish brown color with ivory colored head. Christmas spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, and some roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with spices and sweetness.

12oz can
Pours an amber color with a large off-white head with good lacing and retention. The aroma is filled with holiday spices and honey. The taste like the aroma features some sweetness up front that lingers into the finish with a malty backbone and nutmeg and other spices in the finish. Overall, Tinsel is a solid beer that absolutely reminds me of the holidays.

From the can received in trade from a non-BA member. Sampled on January 2, 2016.
The color is deep amber brown with a lingering tan head.
The spices play up in the aroma and include nutmeg, cinnamon, Allspice, and perhaps some ginger. The malt character is more subdued. Maybe some fig.
Medium body but a little acidic.
More notable spice flavor enhances the sweet malts. It is not a burning spiciness but it does tend to let itself be known.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Belgian Tulip.
Look is a reddish brown body, a nice full head forms and leaves plenty of islands of lacing inside the glass.
Aromas of cinnamon, caramel, nutmeg, and allspice dominates.
Nice spice follows the aroma with that cinnamon, and nutmeg; some clove too.
Light mouth feel, easy drinking beer.
Overall this is a fairly decent beer for what it is. Wish it had a fuller mouth feel and a little more spice in the taste.

Pours a hazy dark red with brown tint, one finger thick head of dense cream colored foam, settles to a thin ring, wispy rings of lace halfway down the glass. Smell: caramel, whiff of toasted brown bread, tons of baking spices primarily allspice and nutmeg. Taste: caramel, a little baked red apple, nutmeg, clove-y, decent hop component helps the finish not be a mouthful of spices... clean but slightly citric. Light-medium bodied, creamy, fine carbonation... and finishes just about like a mouthful of spice. One was enjoyable, but definitely would benefit from more malt complexity and/or lighter spicing.
