750ml bottle into a tulip. The brew appears a clear golden copper color with a white frothy topping and stringy lace is left on the glass.

The smell includes vanilla, oak, chardonnay with strong focus on vinous and fruity notes.

The taste is mutually fruity with apple, pear, oak, vanilla, and chardonnay. Very faintly tart with a soft grain aftertaste.

This is medium to light bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. It displays an interesting tartness but not all that funky as one might expect. What it lacks in funk it more than makes up for in pleasant barrel nuance.

How am I the first to review this beer? I bought it in PA over Christmas and have had it cellared since then. Pouring at cellar temp into a snifter the beer reminds me of a champagne with a golden brass color and frothy bleached white head that is soft and foams up about 2 cm before fading fairly rapidly to a sturdy edge layer and wispy surface.
Aroma is some green apple, a bit of apple cider vinegar, and some musty wet blanket scent. A little sweet malt is in there too, mild caramel, but funk is the show here.
First sip reveals an average body with a slightly sticky texture and very gentle spacious carbonation.
Flavor is a little tart and sweet, I get some caramel but then moves quickly to some green apple and cider flavors. There is some spice that I didnt get in the nose, maybe coriander? The flavor has a fair amount going on and is a little messy, but I think Brett and barrel aging can do that to a beer. A little musty yeast hit and fairly dry finish.
The beer has no hop flavor that I can detect and the alcohol is also well hidden. I do wish the flavor was a little more bold, but it certainly isnt a bad taste
A nice easy drinking funky beer.
Worth a shot, I hope these guys dont fold up shop as Ive enjoyed the beers that I have sampled.
