Until I see Hatchery series #5 on this site I will use this one (#1) to rate it in place of this series. This is so new that I CAN'T FIND IT so I have to rate it due to such awesome hoppy/malt balance and smooth flavor. I have had all of the others in this series except #1. This one is specifically called NE Style IPA by the way.

7/30...pours golden yellow with a slight orange hue. Hefty 1/2 inch of fluffy white foam. Floral notes in the aroma, breads and biscuits. Tropical fruit flavors blended in a light bitter malt. Guavas and papayas sprinkled in. Smooth mouthfeel, clean and fruity. Real good. Bring this recipe back.

A: Hazy deep yellow to light orange color, large off white head, really good lacing

S: Floral, piney hops not much else. Smell is weak but pleasant.

T: I get the nice floral hop bitterness and then a nice malty sweetness to balance it really well.

M: Medium

O: A good IPA. Nothing that sets the world on fire but a good beer.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. the appearance is a slightly cloudy yellow color with a large white head. The aroma is sweet citrus hops. The taste is a very nice blend of citrus and hops. great for summertime drinking.

Hatchery Series Release #1 IPA Featuring Mosaic Hops | SweetWater Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, the head is two fingers thick, with webbed lacing, and a sediment-laden medium gold body.

Smells like fresh and "tropical", as the bottle reads. Slightly sweet malts also make an appearance.

I taste outrageously fresh citrus & "tropical" hops melding with honey biscuit malts. This is astronomically refreshing, too.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, Hatchery Series Release #1 IPA Featuring Mosaic Hops | SweetWater Brewing Company gets an overall 4.5. I really hope this goes on to have its own 6 pack release.

Yellow in color with a very light golden tinge. Ample head, plenty of carbonation and average to below average lacing. Aroma is berry-like, candy-like. Taste is refreshing lots of grapefruit, floral notes, cool feelings and a great juicy, pulpy citrus feel. Finish is good with a nice lingering citrusy bitterness on the end.

Look- hazy golden in colour with tons of sediment and decent carbonation. Somewhat tight frothy head that dissipates quickly, decent lacing.

Smell- light hoppy smell. Very dank similar to most sweetwater brews.

Taste- very sweet almost blueberry taste at the front of the tongue, familiar sweetwater danky hop taste in the middle that fades into a skunky dankness. Not offensively skunky, but noticeable. Decent medium mouthfeel for a 6.4% ipa.

Overall- not bad, not great. Came in a variety pack, not something I'd seek out on its own.

A bit more dank than the Terrapin Mosaic. It is more hop pronounced on the palette and finish. I'm a bit ATL biased but prefer this one to the Athens brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle ( Best By 5/08/17) ,into a Funky Buddha snifter.

Frothy white head that stands a half a finger tall and leaves a sticky lacing on the glass and a spider web patch in the center..Hazy gold colored body with medium clarity, heavy sediment, and distorted light showing through the glass.Very light,to no carbonation.

On the nose I get citrus hops, mostly mango, sweet breaded malts with a cracker scent, and slight notes of piney hops.A bit of spicy hops in there as well.

On the palate I get sweet bread malt, and piney hops up front and throughout.Mango and grapefruit citrus in the middle, spices pine and sweet bread on the back end.

The mouth feel is medium heavy, with a good dose of oxidation on the tongue, and a dry finish. It has a bit of a chalky texture to the mouth feel.

This is a pretty good IPA,good combination of hops and malt, pretty well balance.I would recommend and would drink again if it was year round.

Mostly clear golden color except for suspended bits of sediment, the head is thick and sticky leaving rings behind on the glass. Oily, tropical hop aromas...passion fruit, berries, and some spice. Flavor is similar, but bolder and deeper. Mango, lemon, grapefruit, and green herbs with a faint pale malt presence. Medium bodied, crisp feel - some bitterness in the finish. Pretty nice.

Gentle golden color with tiny bubbles constantly rising. Nice white cap and good lacing.

Aroma of spicy, vibrant hops spring out of the glass. Rich collection of resin, tropical fruit (mango comes to mind) intermingled with citrus peel. All this backed by the scent of freshly baked French bread.

Taste is very rich in the sense of bursting tropical fruit, orange and pineapple with conifer hits along the way. Hops are first on entry and ride the entire trip. Something like mild malt carrying everything along but not playing a major role. Finish is clean with lingering fruits in the aftertaste.

Texture is medium full without any feel of heaviness.

Overall it's a hop parade of very well knit together hop flavors of orange, mango, pineapple and fir with an accent of fruity hop abundance. I don't know if there is any hop variety other than mosaic used (brewery website doesn't say) but if that's the only one then this one's enough to create a complex weave of flavors. I don't get the blueberry mentioned by others in describing this hop variety but I definitely get the flavors I mentioned above. Hop goodness without harshness, this is a decidedly hop adventure.

There're some nice ones in this early Spring variety pack and I'm darned glad this was in the selection. Just wish they'd included more than one bottle.
