-Jamaican Coffee Porter.

A: Porous spongy textured dark khaki head sits at one half inch atop a flat black coloring in the chalice. The pour showed more of a mahogany reddish brown tone. Good sitting length/retention on the head with lots of micro bubbly activity.

S: Dry Irish coffee like scent, dried milk and roasted coffee beans. Dry chocolate, light to medium strength.

T: Sweet dark fruit, plums, spicy black licorice, and fresh creamer coffee for flavor. Vanilla highlights against some chocolate with some charred bitterness on the finish. Smoked woodiness, black cherries, and some sweet burnt grains and fruitiness. Spicy caramelized sweetness.

M: Milky creamy mouthful, lots of texture, dry, bitter and warming roastiness.

O: Overall a solid porter with borderline stout qualities of the deep roasted and smoky kind. Nice range of flavor, sweet dark fruit, vanilla. The Jamaican coffee beans didn't particularly make or break this beer.

Received from @jdell15 in NBS BIF #9. Reviewed 9/1/19. Thanks Jacob!
“02/18/19 C1207” on bottom of 12 oz can. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 54 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Brown, clear.
Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, still opaque but with a bit of penetration at the edge.
Head – Large (Maximum 7.5 cm, aggressive center pour), tan, dense, average duration leaving an irregular ten to twenty mm frothy crown and a thick complete rocky cap.
Lacing – Fair. Partial wide bands of tiny to medium bubbles connected by thick columns.
Aroma – 3.25 – Weak roasted malt and very ephemeral coffee aroma.
Flavor – 3.5 - Begins with a bitter coffee taste which quickly fades to just bitterness. No alcohol flavor or aroma (6.6% ABV), no dimethylsulfide, no diacetyl.
Palate – 3.25 – Medium, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation: 3.5. Coffee with a bit of grain alcohol added. Oh well, they can’t all be winners. Overrated.

Pours dark. With a beige head. Dark soda in color. Not opaque. The scent of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee.
Taste is creamy, rich, toffee, dark chocolate, coffee and slightly bitter on the backend. Dark chocolate and bitter hops, hits you in your tastebuds.
It's a great porter. If you're a fan of porters and stouts. You will love this one

Black in color with minimal light penetration. There’s a quarter inch of beige on top. Light lacing. The aroma is of dark roasted coffee. I’m tasting fairly balanced dark coffee in moderation along with dark chocolate and caramel. The mouth is lightly oily and dry.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is dark brown, amber edges, head presents at least 2 inches thick on the initial pour with tan color and fine bubbles.

Smell is pleasant lightly roasted, nutty coffee blended with light chocolate malt

Taste emphasizes the notes of the aroma with light roast/nutty coffee; light chocolate and toffee malt flavors follow then some light earthy hop bitterness.

Mouthfeel is starts on lightly sweet and the finishes on the crisp side, seems to be a blend of carbonation bite and dry feremented finish.

Overall quite good brown porter style with lightly roasted coffee flavors.

12oz can. Dark brown body with ruby hues when held to light; creamy tan head ends up as a layer of foam. Coffee aroma with some chocolatey malt. Coffee is more prominent in flavor, along with notes of chocolate, nutty grain, caramel, leafy hops. Full and creamy body, moderate carbonation, balanced finish. This was good. Glad to try it.

12 ounce can poured into a tulip glass.

L---Impenetrable dark brown color. Nice, slightly off-white head with good retention and good lacing.

S---Well, coffee, obviously. Bitter black coffee, not creamed or sweetened. It hits its mark, but is not complex, more of a single note.

T---Again, coffee is the dominant note. I don't know specifically know what Jamaican coffee tastes like, so I can't comment on that, but there is a full, rich black coffee taste. Some light dark chocolate and other malts.

F---Much thinner than I was expecting. Almost watery. A little bit creamy.

O---A very good coffee porter. Wifey approves. She said, "two snaps up with a twist".

Pours very dark with decent sized head. Smells of malt and coffee. Coffee and slight chocolate in flavor and this beer has a super smooth mouth feel. Very solid.
