Was looking for something new to try and this one fit the bill at Hooleys. Kind of looking forward to trying just a pilsner and not some complex beer. Had never had a beer from this new brewery, so not sure what to expect.
Kind of hard to see in the place, but poured a yellow, golden, clear color with one finger of frothy, white head when I got it. Serene setting underneath the head with just a few bubbles. Good amount of layered lacing. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Holy hops on the smell! Was not expecting a hoppy pilsner and initially thought I had the wrong beer, but let’s do this. Smelling smooth Mosaic, floral hops, tropical notes with hints of mango, passion fruit and pineapple and juicy tangerine. Not getting any pilsner notes. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose, but not as much IPA as the nose. Actually getting some pilsner notes. Mosaic, orange blossom, floral hops, bitter Citra, tropical pulp, mango peel, hints of pineapple, passion fruit and Southern Cross (I think). (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was awesome for the style. More IPA than pilsner, but still light and refreshing. Well done. (Overall - 4.50)
