Silva Stout W/ Mostra Coffee

Had on tap at Cellar 3 side by side with regular Silva Stout. Too much fun. Thought the coffee added a great big dark roasted/espresso like kick to the black ale. Nose was incredible and mouth feel was silkily smooth. Really liked the beer, but it seemed to lack some of nuances and distinction of the regular Silva Stout. It was a wonderful beer, but some of the outstanding complexity and sophistication of SS was MIA. Having said that...it is an amazing coffee stout that should be sought out.

 

Poured a black body with minimal head and lace. Smell is woody and light and the coffee notes give off this sweeter than usual coffee aroma. Smooth, medium body that is real oaky smooth, slight vanilla and chocolate sweetness with touch of fruit flavors and this light coffee taste this is quite enjoyable. I enjoyed this beer and really enjoyed regular Silva but if I had to pick one I would pick regular Silva. I state this simply b/c I find the coffee addition enjoyable but it mutes some of the finer, minute aspects of the regular version of this beer.
