22 oz. Bomber
Red Wax/Capped
2014 Vintage
Pours a pretty nice cloudy amber color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some very nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some nice bourbon, slight oak. The taste is very nice, malty, nice sweetness, slight vanilla, very nice touch of bourbon, slightly oaky. Medium body, with a nice bitter finish, ABV is not listed, but I'll take a guess and say around 7.5%. Overall, this is a very tasty brew, and probably my first Barrel Aged Amber. A very nice surprise. Recommended!

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.
Pours a hazy honey red with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, earth, dirt, wood, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with earth, dirt, fruit, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is an average beer with a barrel aged presence that is all wood and no bourbon.
Serving type: bottle.

i think the regular honeyed one is one of the best beers being made in colorado right now, its the hidden gem nobody knows about but is probably gold medal worthy. i was really pumped to try this barrel edition. the thing is though, the barrel sort of trumps what i like best about the base beer, its raw honey delicacy, where you sort of feel out in the meadow with the bees, pollenating and buzzing about on a spring day. it takes me there. this one is heavier, sweeter, and i get more of the barrel malt sweetness than i do of the honey, which made this special in the first place. now, thats me being negative, the beer is incredible on the whole, and the introduction of oak and vanilla notes to this is a real treat, the flavors are amazing, its just an entirely different beer than my cherished base beer here. worth trying for sure, but if i had to chose, i would take the base honeyed one over its barrel aged kin here.

Handsome brownish amber with a frothy foam in the Caution Brewing nonic. Body is on the lighter side, with a pleasing sudsy mouthfeel. A touch of vanilla in the nose.
Powerful bourbon flavor with an aftertaste like you just swallowed a shot of Jim Beam. Light malt flavors with a hint of hops to give a little bitterness. Otherwise it's all about the barrel. Not very woody, though, it's the high flavors. Quite sharp.
An interesting brew that is seriously whiskeyfied. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the brewery at the plant nursery on the highway west of Windsor.

Pours a deep amber with a dirty khaki colored head. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, and toffee, and bready. Flavor offers some nice bourbon and its barrel, caramel, bread, and toffee.A medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel with some activity. Overall, my intro to High Hops and its a good one.Better on tap than via the bottle. Also finding that I am a big fan of bourbon barrel red ales. Would definitely drink again.
