32oz. howler purchased at the brewery on 3/31 and served in a tulip nonic (thanks Kayti!). Pours a translucent yellow with a loose, 1/8th inch bright white head that quickly disperses towards the shoulders leaving a soapy slick and a thin bubbly band around the edges. Nose is very much what you would anticipate from a cream ale - adjuncts in the nose primarily, a light grassy character and perhaps a kiss of noble hops aromas. Taste follows nose - not sure what makes this imperial other than the abv. Earthy hops bittering is more apparent and revealed at the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body (slight more full bodied than a standard cream ale) with a slight viscosity and a crisp carbonation. All and all, not bad for the style, but not a goto beer for me. I think I prefer Grey Sail's standard fare as opposed to the imperial version.
