Poured from a growler filled at the brewery.
Pours a pure black color with a 2-finger khaki head. Not a lot of lacing but the head sticks around and leaves a nice film on top of the beer.
On the aroma, I get lots of dark roasted malts and sweet milk chocolate. There's a touch of brown sugar as well.
The taste follows the nose. Roasted malts up front, followed by loads of sweet chocolate. The finish brings some lightly bitter baker's chocolate.
The feel is medium-light bodied with good carbonation. Slight lingering bitterness on the aftertaste.
Overall, a very good stout. There's nothing complex about it and the flavors and aromas are pretty straight forward, but everything is very well done.

On-tap 3/4/2016 at Doherty’s Ale House in Warwick, RI, served in a tapered pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a large foamy beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick but spotty lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and a touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malt character followed by some mild flavors of chocolate and coffee. There also a touch of smokiness in the background. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a decent balance. The after-taste is slightly bready.
M: Crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: A little tasty, goes down ok, slightly filling, decent kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are better choices within the style.
