December 15th, 2015 - The Duke is a little much for me, though it is a gorgeous beer. The head is a velvety coronet over the abyssal black beer, with some hickory and smoke notes boldly projecting from the brew. There's also a little Aspen bark freshness, glue and raw beef, giving this a hearty smell with some odd but not unpleasant smells. The flavor is very similar but expresses more as a spicy teriyaki beef jerky, which is an interesting taste but a little too strong, especially given the relatively lighter body.
