On tap at Vine Street Pub for stout month. This was a real disappointment. First off the color was not black, more of a brown. Second the aroma was non-existent. Third the flavor is I guess stout like but it's so watery it's like stout flavored water. There was no part flavor just watered down stout. Thus sucked.

a pretty average offering from lone tree. on at at Denver bicycle café. the pour is really black, radiant in luster, but a little flat looking with a dying light brown head. aromas of black coffee and burnt barley arise, its pretty bitter but not from any hops at all. the flavor is the same, burnt toast and fusel alcohols, which is odd for a beer hovering around just 5% abv. long lasting bitter finish. this beer is filling, I don't know if its the general overcooked character that's contributing this effect or what, but its not a brew id care to have more than one of. nitro might help this, as the carbonation falls a bit flat of moving this along with its big old body. I didn't dislike it, I just wasn't impressed at all. its very average, but if you like the bitter stouts, toots could be your horse. personally I wont be rushing out to try this again.

On-tap at brewery
Very dark colored...almost tar-looking; small head; light lacing; lightly sweet and oatmeal-y on the nose; nutty, almost coffee-pungent aromas; nutty on the front when drank; again, lightly sweet and cocoa smooth; good, well-balanced stout.

On-tap at the Yardhouse, on to the beer:
A nearly black beer with hues of ruby red at the bottom of the glass. The head forms about a centimeter thick retains itself decently. The nose of smoked chocolate temps the taste buds, however the show the beer brings to the mouth is a small letdown. It's alright; in fact it starts off pretty well with roasty malts first. Some cocoa sweetenes the beer, and then there's a strange note that I'm catching. Why is there a note of ointment here? The beer is medium bodied and smooth. As it stands, it's an alright beer with food, though on its own may be a little less pleasant. Proceed with caution on this one.
