Appearance - Pours black with nice tan head that settles to a rocky thick ring around the glass. Spotty lacing all around the glass.

Aroma - Roasted malts, oak, light spice, rye, vanilla. Hint of caramel.

Taste - Very nice bold chocolate, vanilla, spicy rye, oak, molasses. The rye version is not as strong as the bourbon version, the others flavors are allowed to shine a little more. I really like the added spiciness. I feel like teh barrel comes out a little more in this one as well.

Feel - Very smooth creamy feel, just a touch of heat and a very mild dry finish.

Overall - Loving this one very smooth balanced flavors, the whiskey is not over powering and helps the other flavors shine.

Pours black with a finger of khaki foam that is tightly laced on top. Good head retention. Aroma is a hit of rye spice immediately, but dries up quickly showing off notes of roasted and toasted malts, and caramel. Flavor profile is caramel, molasses, and toffee, with roasted and toasted malts showing up shortly afterwards. As the sweets and malt notes mingle, the beer finishes with a dry, rye note. It's not boozy at all. Mouth feel is medium in thickness, with a smooth texture. The texture starts to work its way towards creamy. Overall, nice notes in the base stout with the rye barrel adding a dry, rye spice that is pleasant and fun. It keeps the flavor from lingering long on the tongue.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz can. 2018, Brookside version.
